About the blends

I try to make the batts as near to uniform size as possible. Each colored silk is weighed and measured before being blended into its batt. This will ensure that the spinner will have consistency from batt to batt. The proportion of wool to silk in all blends is approximately 75/25.

Silk 'n Wool

There are two types of wool here - Romney and a commercially prepared blend of mixed breeds.

The Romney is home-raised, most of it unusually soft for the breed. The 'super soft' is a relatively short staple - about 4" and displays the renowned Romney luster.

The Romney designated as 'medium gauge' is a texture more typical of the breed. Staple length here is 5-6".

The fine gauge commercial wool is a supersoft roving with a staple length of about 4".

Silk 'n Wo-Hair

A glossy blend of 85% supersoft fine wool and 15% mohair, blended together with silk in the same way as Silk 'n Wool. This Wo-Hair makes up into a beautiful soft yarn with a delicate mohair halo in just the right amount so that your stitch patterns still stand out.
